Community Reading Partnership

Become a Little Red Bookshelf Guardian

Responsibilities:
⦁ Establish a relationship with a representative from the site.
⦁ Provide your home phone number and email to host site representative so that contacts can be made to replenish books at the site.
⦁ Pick up the stamped books from the Canandaigua Primary School’s CRP Storage Room, just off the Link entrance; call 396-9000 for details. Books are on shelves and labeled by reading level.
⦁ Record the number of books from each level on your “Log Sheet.” Copies are available in the CRP room. This form is divided by months and levels to help you with your record keeping.
⦁ Visit your site on a regular basis (2-4 weeks) to determine if books need to be replenished and keep the bookshelf neat and clean. Learn the types of books your site’s population likes. Depending on your site’s volume, you may need to visit more frequently.
⦁ Report to the Guardian Coordinator the total number of books by level (preschool, primary, etc.) at the end of December. She will contact you for this data which is collected for inclusion in grant applications and for publicity.
⦁ Guardians are welcome to attend monthly board meetings.
